“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
— JOHN 8:32 (AMP)
We’ve all felt it—that spark.
The instant chemistry.
The butterflies. The connection. The “I just know” feeling.
And it’s real. It’s powerful.
But it’s not enough.
Because the truth is…
chemistry might light a fire—but only Christ can fireproof the foundation.
A house built on anything other than Jesus might look good for a season… but when the fire comes, it won’t stand.

THE DANGEROUS LIE:
"If It Feels Right, It Must Be Right"
Our culture worships feelings.
We chase connection over conviction.
We confuse chemistry with compatibility, and we ignore truth if it interrupts the fairy tale.
But Jesus didn’t say, “I am the feeling, the fun, and the fantasy.”
He said:
“I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
— JOHN 14:6 (AMP)
Truth isn’t optional.
It’s the foundation.
And that foundation is a Person—Jesus.
HOUSES ON SAND DON’T STAND
Jesus gave us the blueprint:
“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock... and the rain fell, and the floods and winds slammed against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
— MATTHEW 7:24–25 (AMP)
But He didn’t stop there:
“Everyone who hears these words and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.”
— MATTHEW 7:26 (AMP)
Relationships built on attraction, mirroring, or temporary connection—without honesty, without Christ, without truth—will not withstand the pressure of real life.
The storms will come.
And when they do?
Only the relationship anchored in Truth… survives.
“I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
— JOHN 14:6 (AMP)
Truth isn’t optional.
It’s the foundation.
And that foundation is a Person—Jesus.
A PERSONAL TRUTH
“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock... and the rain fell, and the floods and winds slammed against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
— MATTHEW 7:24–25 (AMP)
I’ve been there.
I loved deeply.
I thought I’d found someone who shared my vision, my heart, my calling.
But over time, I saw the cracks.
She didn’t love me—she mirrored me.
And while I was building on the Rock…
She was still standing on the sand.
Love without truth isn’t love—it’s a performance.
And eventually, the storm hit.
The foundation gave way.
And I was left in the rubble wondering if it was ever real.
But here’s what I know now:
My love wasn’t wasted—because it was rooted in truth.
BUILDING FOR REAL
On the Rock
So if you want something that lasts:
Don’t just chase connection—test it.
Don’t just say “I love you”—live it in truth.
Don’t build on promises alone—build on Jesus.
Because in the end, only what’s built on the Rock will stand.
A PRAYER:
“Father, You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
I’ve tried to build love on emotions, chemistry, and connection—but without You, it crumbles.
Teach me how to build on Truth.
Help me love with action, lead with integrity, and protect what is sacred.
You aer the Rock, my Rock. And help me build nothing less than what honors You.”

- Are there areas where you’ve ignored the cracks because the feelings were strong?
- Have you ever mirrored someone—or been mirrored—just to win their love? (What did it cost you?)
- How would your love look different if it were fully anchored in Christ, not just connection?
